Philadelphia Old Swedes Church Vintage 1936 WPA Poster
Designed around 1936 by artist and future Caldecott Medal winner Katherine Milhous for the Pennsylvania WPA Federal Art Project, this tourism poster promoted Gloria Dei ("Old Swedes") Church — one of Philadelphia's oldest surviving buildings, dating to 1700. Milhous went on to win the 1951 Caldecott Medal for children's book illustration, making this an early, historically notable work from a genuinely significant American illustrator.
Restored from the Library of Congress archival scan, preserving the original warm rust and cream palette.
