Yellowstone Geyser Old Faithful 1938 Vintage WPA Poster | Red Tone

Designed by WPA artist C. Don Powell in 1938, this is one of the most recognizable images to come out of the National Park Service's WPA poster program: Old Faithful mid-eruption against a warm dusk sky, advertising the park's Ranger Naturalist Service. Like its sister designs for Grand Teton, Lassen, and Mount Rainier, it was silkscreened by hand in limited runs — and like most of the series, the vast majority of originals were lost over the following decades before poster historian Doug Leen's rediscovery effort brought the series back to public attention.
